Rosa draws on wide and varied experience having worked in her formative years post-graduation in Paris, France for leading international architects for many years before returning to Australia with George Yiontis in 1996 to establish Coy Yiontis Architects in Melbourne. Their projects of all genres celebrate materiality, form and meticulous planning. The practice is known for its strikingly crafted and detailed architecture and interiors and has received awards and recognition though media locally and internationally. As co-design director Rosa oversees the design process and staff to ensure a consistent design approach across the work – the focus always on innovation, design excellence and efficiency. She has spoken at events in Melbourne, Sydney and about the work of the practice and acted as juror for several respected architectural & design awards. She has been a guest critic and assessor at Deakin and Melbourne Universities.

“Ruby Shields is a passionate force in interior design, known for her unapologetic love of bold colour, rich textures, and sculptural forms. Based in Naarm, Melbourne she’s worked alongside some of Melbourne’s renown architects and artisans, designing bespoke pieces that are as functional as they are artful. With a meticulous eye for detail and an uncanny knack for sourcing the unexpected, Ruby blends custom craftsmanship with playful, sculptural elements. Her designs are a masterful mix of history and modernity, layered, deeply personal and a have a sense of nostalgia. Ruby’s interiors are immersive narratives, where every detail speaks to the essence of those who call it home.

Though still early in her career, Ruby has already made a bold impact on the world of interiors. Her fearless approach to colour earned her the Dulux 37th Colour Awards win in the student category, followed by two finalist spots in the 38th awards. She was also commended as a DIA Graduate of the Year and recognised in the 30 Under 30 cohort of 2023. A fierce champion of design, Ruby is drawn to the boundless creativity and fearless experimentation that shape a designer’s unique voice. She thrives on the raw energy of unfiltered ideas, where rules are bent, limits are tested, and innovation takes flight. She can’t wait to see what this year’s designers will bring!”

“Georgina heads up Design Community Engagement at the Design Institute of Australia, collaborating with leaders in design across the nation to develop and deliver a suite of inspiring programs to support designers in their professional practice.

Georgina began her 15 year career with industry associations at the Australian Institute of Architects where she managed the ACT Chapter before moving into a national role, managing the International Chapter, Student Organised Network for Architecture (SONA) and Emerging Architects and Graduates Network (EmAGN).

Georgina is a passionate advocate for design and has a particular soft spot for the liberated experimentation that comes at the early stages of a designer’s career.”

Cassie Hansen is the editor of InteriorsAu, an interiors and design digital platform. Prior to this, she was the editor of Artichoke magazine for ten years. She is an active contributor to design media, through writing, editing, presentations, and participation in awards juries. Cassie has written for a range of publications, including Houses, Landscape Architecture Australia and Kitchens + Bathrooms. She has a degree in creative industries, majoring in journalism and creative writing.

“Marlo Lyda is an Australian-born designer-maker, curator, and university lecturer based on Gadigal Country, Sydney. She creates striking furniture, objects, and lighting from unconventional resources, transforming discarded materials through reconstitution and recontextualisation. Working with materials in their “second iteration of objecthood,” she uncovers thoughtful narratives and allows materials to tell their own stories.

In May 2024, Lyda held a solo exhibition at Useful Objects Gallery in Melbourne, showcasing her Turning (Camphor), Remnants, and Fragments collections. Turning (Camphor) was featured in Stephen Todd’s list of the top 2024 Australian designs in Australian Financial Review Magazine, while both Turning (Camphor) and Fragmentswere shortlisted for the 2024 IDEA Awards. Her innovative practice earned her the Powerhouse Museum Design (Early Career) Fellowship in 2023, supporting her ongoing residency and studio practice at the museum.”
